Former West Indies selector and England batsman Roland Butcher expects there to be clear differences between US pitches and those in the Caribbean at the T20 World Cup.
The group stage of the tournament will be held in three venues in the United States (New York, Dallas and Florida) and across the Caribbean.
Sri Lanka and South Africa will begin their group matches in the United States before moving to the Caribbean. The later stages of the tournament will be played in full.
“pitch [in the Caribbean] “I’m not really suited to fast bowlers,” Butcher, who became the first black player to represent England in 1980, told Al Jazeera.
“In the series against South Africa, the spin bowlers were spinning the ball square. [Gudakesh] Moti won the matches by scoring three points in each of the first two games and we can expect to see many more such performances.
“The pitch in the U.S. is going to be the best in the entire tournament. It feels like a drop-in pitch has been created for Australia.”
“You would expect India and Pakistan to score a lot of runs but it won’t be the same for the West Indies and the scores will be much lower.”
