After hitting the first pitch from Sam Curran over third base, Brandon King ran down the field to hit a long ball from the left-arm seamer, but while getting there, King hurt himself while playing the shot and promptly collapsed to the ground in pain.
After a brief conversation with the team physiotherapist, he limped off – a major blow for the West Indies, as King had just come on and begun to frustrate England. Nicholas Pooran came to bat and finished off his fifth over with a commanding cut through backward point to open the scoring.
