Limerick’s senior hurlers have received a big boost with the news that four-time All-Star Sean Finn has returned to full training.
The Bluff defender has been sidelined since sustaining a cruciate ligament injury in Limerick’s defeat to Clare in Munster SHC last April.
The Limerick manager revealed the news yesterday after a 1-20 to 0-17 win over Westmeath in the second round of the 2024 Allianz Hurling League.
Asked about players returning from injury, Keary joked: “They’re in the country training.” “They are working hard, some of them trained this morning.
“We’re trying to make sure they’re fit, healthy and energetic and get them on the field when they feel 100% ready.
“They’re on a good upward curve as well. We’re happy with where they are. They’ve made great progress and we feel they’re getting stronger.”
“Sean (Finn) returned to training on Friday night and that was a big step forward for the group. It’s great to have him back, although it will take some time for him to progress to the next stage. He’s back on the pitch.” That and his back training. ”
The Limerick manager added that Declan Hannon’s progress has been delayed by a week or two due to a minor injury and that he is “expected to be back in the next few weeks”.
Limerick have no games this weekend but will play their third Allianz Hurling League match of the year against Dublin at Croke Park on Saturday 24th February.
