For my first post I would like to start a discussion on leadership and decision making in the business world. By way of background, I am an officer in the UK military considering a transfer to “Civi Street”. I would like to move into consultancy/coaching, specifically into leadership and decision making – two areas where I have had plenty of experience in my role in the military. However, I am not sure what the key leadership and decision making issues are that businesses face on a day to day basis, and whether they are suffering enough to pay me a significant amount to (hopefully!) provide some guidance and coaching… As a starter for the 10, I envisaged my target audience to be small business owners and start-ups who have not had any formal leadership or decision making training, but have now grown to a position where they employ staff and are looking for some direction and guidance. Or larger businesses looking to hire someone to provide training to their team leaders. Maybe someone with experience in either position can tell me if this is the reality…?
I’d also love to hear your thoughts on how you view leadership coaching as a business model in general.
Any and all feedback is welcome.
Mikey
