King Charles waves well in first public appearance after cancer diagnosis
King Charles returned to London to continue his cancer treatment and was pictured smiling beside the Queen.
Camilla and Duchess flew by helicopter from their private residence in Sandringham to Buckingham Palace, then drove the short distance to nearby Clarence House.
Last week, the king revealed the results of his diagnosis to the public after treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia revealed shocking findings.
The king returned from a week in Sandringham, Norfolk, to continue his medical treatment, after his son Prince Harry, who had flown in from California on Tuesday, paid a brief visit to Clarence House.
On Saturday, the king spoke for the first time about his diagnosis, thanking the public for “the many messages of support and well wishes.” He added in his statement that it was “equally heartening” to hear how sharing his own diagnosis helped advance public understanding of cancer.
The king was seen smiling and waving on Sunday in his first public appearance since his cancer diagnosis.
Prime Minister Charles has postponed all official business, but work on the national newspaper Red Box continues behind the scenes.
