Katy Perry has officially announced her song “Lifetimes” as the next single from her upcoming album, 143.
On Monday morning, the pop star posted to her 206 million Instagram followers: “PRE-SAVE LIFETIMES AUGUST 9 SONG + VIDEO NOW. KATY.TO/LIFETIMES.”
The 39-year-old singer recently revealed that the song was inspired by her and fiancé Orlando Bloom’s daughter Daisy, who turns 4 on August 20.
Perrie coordinates a dance routine with influencer duo Brooke Blueitt and Jess Qualter for the teaser, which also features Irish singing duo Jedward.
This comes less than a month after her comeback single “Woman’s World” failed to impress fans.
Lifetime’s announcement post has garnered 165,000 likes so far, with fans eager to see the music artist bounce back from the project’s lackluster first single.
Appearing on The One Show, Katy revealed how her daughter inspired her next song.
She said the idea for the song came from a lovely interaction she had with her toddler.
The proud mother excitedly said, “‘Lifetimes’ was inspired by my daughter. Of course, I tell her every night before she goes to bed that I love her, but recently I’ve started asking her, ‘Will you find me in each of your lives?’ and she says yes.”
The singer-songwriter shared another anecdote, “The coolest thing is, this summer we traveled all over Europe and we went to a lot of beaches and I bought a lot of chocolate gold coins. When we were building sandcastles, I would hide them while she was digging and she would find them. So she loves finding chocolate coins.”
“So the other day I said, ‘Are you going to find me for the rest of your life?’ And she said, ‘Yeah, let’s search for chocolate coins together!’”
The entertainer’s album, “143,” is scheduled for release on September 20th.
Speaking about the album’s title, she explained on the podcast, “It’s my angel number. It’s something I look at when I need guidance or confirmation or just reassurance that I’m in the right place at the right time.”
The “Hot and Cold” hit “Woman’s World” has been controversial because it was co-produced by Dr. Luke, who singer Kesha has accused of sexual assault and rape.
She has previously worked with the 50-year-old music producer on singles “I Kissed A Girl” and “Teenage Dream.”
Katy began teasing her new songs in late June, and released all of her new songs and videos back-to-back on July 11th and 12th.
“She understands working with Dr Luke again will be controversial, but they work so well together and have such a close bond with each other that she knows him in a way that no one else does,” a source told DailyMail.com.
“Her relationship with Dr. Luke is a big deal,” the source continued, “so working with him again is something that doesn’t bother her, even though it bothers a lot of fans.”
