The Japanese company’s chief executive added that the world needs Indian leadership and is amazed by the country’s diversity. “The world needs Indian leadership. It has been a month since I came to India, and I am once again amazed by the diversity of Indian values. Nishiyama also spoke about the importance of collective efforts that help generate new and diverse ideas. “Traditional top-down approaches have been effective in socialist countries and military organizations.However, in today’s unstable and uncertain society, it is important to utilize diverse ideas and work together to move forward. “The down approach is based solely on dictatorial ideas and has many blind spots,” he continued.
The executive also compared the working scenarios in Japan and India. He said, “Japanese management has the nuance of confining others to their own way of thinking and controlling them. Stay within the same one small framework. There is a history and history, and trying to confine different religions, races, and values into one value system will not work, so instead of applying different things, we try to create a large framework that can encompass everything. Even though we fit into one small framework and are different from each other, we can move forward by leveraging our differences.”
Nishiyama said appreciating India’s “diverse environment” and developing a large-scale plan that “can encompass disparate values” will help move forward. He added that the situation is different in Japan, where there is a “homogeneous environment”.
Citing the examples of Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, the entrepreneur said India has the ability to lead in the global environment and compete. He asserted that Japan is a country that embodies both Japan and cooperation. “The world is a chaotic place with diverse values and power relations. India is definitely the one that can take this forward, because it has already experienced a lot of this in its own country. In business, there is no Sundar Pichai or Satya.” Nadella is a second-generation American who was born and educated in India and then went to the United States for graduate school.
