Noida: An inter-state ‘tuck tuck’ gang, which had been stealing electronic devices from cars, was arrested on Wednesday. The gang, which had been operating in NCR for the past few months, had targeted over a dozen cars and smashed their windows to steal electronic devices including laptops and mobile phones. Multiple cases have been registered against the suspects at different police stations in the city. Two members of the gang, Paramjeet from Delhi and Sanjay from Bihar, were arrested from Knowledge Park area in Greater Noida on Wednesday. A total of 43 mobile phones and a country-made pistol loaded with live ammunition were recovered from the suspects. “We received a report on June 19 that four to five mobile phones had been stolen from a car parked outside Galgotias and IIMT colleges. A police team reached the spot and it was discovered that the mobile phones had been stolen by breaking the car windows,” said Ashok Kumar, Additional DCP, Greater Noida. “After getting information about the suspects’ movement in the area, we set up a checkpoint near Lloyd T Point. We stopped the Ertiga car for inspection and subsequently arrested Paramjeet and Sanjay,” Kumar said. “During interrogation, the suspects revealed that they were using the Ertiga car for reconnaissance. They targeted a car parked outside the college during exams and stole several items,” Knowledge Part Police Station Officer-in-Charge Vipin Kumar said. “Sanjay has been an active gang member for several years. A case was first registered against him in 2008. Since then, he has been arrested several times,” Vipin added. A case has been registered against the suspects under Sections 379 (theft) and 427 (crime of property) of the Indian Penal Code.
