The world’s first $100 million icebreaker superyacht was built to sail in the Arctic, with a deep-sea submarine and two helipads.
The bronze-hued, 253-foot-long La Dacha could navigate ice 16 inches thick and had retractable stabilizers to aid drifting ice floes.
Additionally, thanks to advanced fuel tanks and waste disposal systems, the crew can sail for 40 days without refueling.
It was launched in the Dutch port city of Vlissingen and cost a reported £80 million to build.
The ship had countless amenities to keep the crew and passengers entertained for weeks.
In addition to enjoying the sauna, you can also visit the massage room or soak in one of the ship’s two hot tubs.
Each of the six cabins has a changing room, toilet and shower or bathtub.
There are also two helicopters, a professional diving center and an onboard hospital.
These are just some of the distinguishing features of this world-class expedition yacht, which is staffed by a professional crew of 25 people.
La Dacha, which means “summer house” in Russian, was designed as the ultimate adventure vessel.
That was, of course, until it disappeared into thin air.
The ship was built for Russian billionaire Oleg Tinkov, founder and shareholder of Tinkov Bank.
The oligarch, who previously boasted a net worth of $1.2bn (£950m), was even willing to rent it out for other people to enjoy.
But that’s only if you can afford the weekly fee of £666,000.
Tinkoff planned to use the private icebreaker for only 20 days a year, but rented it out for the rest of the year.
However, just one month after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the UK imposed sanctions on Mr. La Dacha, and Mr. La Dacha suddenly disappeared.
Mr. Tinkov was named as a “prominent Russian businessman” involved in areas of strategic importance to the Russian government and stripped of all his assets.
But in July 2023, Britain lifted sanctions against Tinkov, nine months after he renounced his Russian citizenship.
It is unclear whether the mogul has regained one of his most valuable assets.
However, according to a recent report from Vesselfinder, La Dacha is now in the Southern Ocean, flying the Panamanian flag.
