Shades By Shan started as a side business in 2018 in founder Shan Berries’ mother’s basement. Five years later, the indie brand is having a “pinch me” moment, as the Belizean company is the first beauty brand to partner with global color authority Pantone.
The color cosmetics brand was on a mission to create a lip glow that corresponds to 2024’s Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz. This partnership marks a milestone for Pantone as it celebrates 25 years of Color of the Year.

The Peach Fuzz Lip Shine retails for $22.
“We were completely floored!” Berrys said when Pantone approached the brand with an offer. “We knew how big this opportunity was and how prestigious this partnership was. We were thrilled just to be considered, and once we decided on it, we knew how big this opportunity was and how prestigious this partnership was. We knew we had to offer a product that could help.”
This lip oil provides what Berries describes as a “luxurious, pillow-soft feel,” leaving lips moisturized and hydrated with every application. The Peach Fuzz The Her Lip Shine, which creates a delicate and elegant look on the lips, is perfect for beauty minimalists who strive to look effortless, says Berries. Plus, lip shine also doubles as a lip treatment, giving you long-lasting results. Formulated with ingredients like olive, jojoba, and almond oil, the soft doe-foot applicator leaves lips soft and hydrated with a beautiful shine.
Lip Shine is currently available online for a limited time at J.C. Penney’s exclusive Shade by Shin retailers and will be available in over 600 stores nationwide in the coming weeks.
As Happi previously reported, the brand announced its first retail rollout a year ago.
“As you can imagine, this has completely changed our business and our lives,” says Berries.

Beyond its cosmetics line (which includes products such as gel eyeliner, shimmering eyeshadow, and moisturizing primer), Pantone was particularly moved by its philanthropic efforts, Belize said. Her mother in Belize was a single Ecuadorian immigrant parent who worked hard to make ends meet for her family. In her honor, Shades By Shan will donate a portion of her proceeds to Mama Berry’s Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Mama Berry’s Foundation has provided financial assistance to more than 80 single parents across the country and plans to triple that number this year. She said the partnership with Pantone provides her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to achieve that goal.

Peach Fuzz has been named the 2024 Pantone Color of the Year.
Pondering the meaning of Peach Fuzz, Berries said the color symbolizes kindness, compassion and compassion – values that embody Shades by Shan. Berrys started the business in her mother’s basement in San Francisco with the help of her sister. The brand started with his two products, and by the end of the year he plans to have over 100 products.
While many liken their business to an “overnight success,” Berrys insists that it was more than just luck, and that it was her resourcefulness and business acumen that helped get their business off the ground. To do.
With the partnership with Pantone, Berrys said she hopes to achieve her goal of tripling the number of single mothers the nonprofit can help. And she wants to continue adding sparkle to the lives of this underrepresented demographic.
“I hope that 2024 will be the year that embraces kindness and compassion, because the world lacks kindness and compassion, just like what Pantone’s Color of the Year represents.” Belize he said. “I want people to realize how much kindness and compassion really is. It doesn’t cost anything to be kind. For those of you who buy lip shine and wear it every day… I want you to remember that you have the power to change someone’s day and life.”
