NEW DELHI: It would be an understatement to say that Pakistan’s elimination at the group stage of this edition of the T20 World Cup was poorly received by former players, critics and the country’s die-hard fans alike.
Having lost to both the USA and arch rivals India, Pakistan’s fate was sealed with a crushing defeat in the match against the USA.

Already eliminated, Pakistan avoided another embarrassing defeat to Ireland in the final match of the T20 World Cup.
Former players and critics have vented their frustrations on various television and talk shows, while numerous videos have been posted of angry Pakistani fans smashing televisions and venting their frustration on their social media accounts.
In the midst of these dark times for Pakistan, a video surfaced online in which fast bowler Haris Rauf was purportedly hurled abuse at by fans over the team’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup.
In the video, Rauf is seen walking down a sidewalk with his wife while being yelled at by fans, and infuriated, he jumps over a tree when his wife tries to stop him.
Although his voice is not clearly audible in the video, Rauf can be heard telling the fan, “You must be Indian,” to which the fan replies, “You’re Pakistani.”
The fan continued to resist an infuriated Rauf, who was stopped by three or four fans who happened to be passing by.
On Monday, reports emerged that Pakistan captain Babar Azam and five other players — Mohammed Amir, Imad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan and Azam Khan — had opted to holiday in London before flying home.
