My bubbly grandma told me that doing certain things would help me look and feel better and bring me back to my childhood.
Jacqueline Hooton, 60, from West Sussex, is known for fighting aging with fitness. She shows women over 50 that you can stay great and healthy at any age.
She recently talked about the great benefits of skipping and how it helps her look great. She says this simple exercise has become popular again in recent years, and there’s a reason why.

She said she hoped people could still enjoy skipping into their 60s, as it strengthened bones and supported heart health. Not to mention, it also has a balance-improving effect and is helpful for menopausal symptoms.
It may seem like a no-brainer, but fitness gurus say it’s a great way to promote healthy aging. Needless to say, it doesn’t cost a fortune.
This super fun activity has so many benefits that she encourages more people to do it. And once you know how great Jacqueline is, you’ll be happy to follow in her footsteps.
Jacqueline wrote on Instagram: “There’s a reason why jumping rope (aka skipping) has become so popular in recent years! It’s cheap, simple, great exercise, and it’s fun!” he posted.
“For postmenopausal women, it has numerous health benefits that support cardiovascular health, bone health, agility, balance, coordination, and more.
“If you haven’t picked up a jump rope since school, this is a sign to pick one up. And you can even mimic the motions of jumping rope without a rope. Who doesn’t love a little jump rope?”
Since she shared the post, more than 1,500 people have liked it, and her followers were quick to comment. People expressed their opinions and also asked some questions.
One said: “Fun!! I wonder if I’ll ever find a bra anywhere on this planet that lets me jump rope again.” Another wrote: “I’m 60 and I love jumping rope too! (cordless though as I’m not very coordinated).”
A third said: “I loved jumping rope when I was little and thought it was very fun and exhilarating…At that age, it definitely didn’t feel like exercise.”
Meanwhile, a fourth woman commented: “Who loves jumping rope! So said the woman who owns 21 ropes. I can’t quit. It’s addictive.”
Just last month, Jacqueline opened up about her fitness goals, saying people often want to “drop a dress size” or “get a six-pack”. While she admits it’s good for her to aim for “the booty,” she also said it’s important that she doesn’t always worry about how she looks.
Just like there’s a lot to be said for staying healthy, focusing on your health will be beneficial as you get older. It can be difficult to sell simply being “healthy,” but for her, working out is the key to success.
