For years now, Bravo has been sending 20- and 30-somethings to the Hamptons over the summer to document their antics. summer housemy favorite non-genuine housewife Bravo show. As the season progressed, I began to notice a lack of blackness in the show. It was the typical reality TV show: mostly white people running around the Hamptons, drinking too much rosé, and getting into love triangles. However, things changed in season 5 of the show. Ciara Miller, described by friend and fellow cast member Paige DeSorbo as “a combination of Naomi Campbell and Mother Teresa,” is the show’s first black female cast member. Miller is stunningly beautiful, and the moment she opens her mouth and lets out a sweet Southern accent, telling us about her background as a nurse, you realize how accurate DeSorbo’s description actually was.
as mirror time summer house Going on, she quickly grew a community of black and brown girls on social media who look to her for all things fashion and beauty, especially beauty. A quick glance at her Instagram shows her jetting off to Miami for the Grand Prix, shooting campaigns for Victoria’s Secret, and sharing tons of videos of her getting her hair and makeup done for appearances, red carpets, and press events. I can see what’s going on. All of this makes her page the go-to spot for Black and brown women looking for hair and makeup ideas to try on their own. Perfect for Black History Month, I Miller takes a deep dive into experimenting with makeup as a Black woman, the brand’s inclusivity, her details for 2024, and of course which products she’s confident in. I thought he was a great person.

What is your beauty in 2024?
This year I’m interested in glowing skin, so highlighter, highlighter, highlighter. I love fake freckles too, but I have to say that too much blush or the “doll blush” trend just doesn’t work for me. That and bad extensions.
What beauty essentials are always in your bag?
I always carry an easy and good lip look like this Mario Moisture Glow Plumping Lip Serum makeup. My favorite shade is Honey Glow. I always carry this in almost every wallet. Add lip liner to them. I also love carrying around a travel size rollerball perfume. I don’t like scents that don’t last all day, so I always carry perfume with me just in case, and I often carry Clean on Me hand cream. It’s a very special little mini lotion that smells so good and fits in all my purses. Of course I always eat snacks.
What beauty advice do you have for Black women who want to experiment more with makeup?
Let’s experiment with colors! Don’t be afraid to try everything and take risks to see what really works for you. Unfortunately, the makeup industry wasn’t always created with us Black women in mind, which can make it even more difficult to play with makeup and find products that are your holy grail. But now there are so many amazing brands out there, including Pat McGrath and Fenty Beauty, that are creating products specifically made with women of color and black women in mind. [These are] We are a brand that values and appreciates Black women and their contributions to the beauty industry, and wants to show that appreciation by creating products we love and use. [Try] all, [try] new beauty trends and [spread] words. When you find really good beauty products, start telling your beauty-loving BIPOC friends. I feel like I’m always getting advice from other black women when it comes to makeup.

As Black women, we have a unique relationship with our hair. How would you describe your relationship with hair?
Oh my god, it’s chaotic. I feel like my relationship with my hair is very chaotic. Wait a minute, I’d like your extension number. I immediately erased it from my mind and never wanted to see it again. Some days I want natural curls. On other days, I want to channel Naomi with straight hair with a long bone in the middle. By the way, no one can tell me anything about that. Like many other black women, it’s a chaotic relationship. But as she’s gotten older, she’s gotten more comfortable working with her hair.
Especially being on TV, it feels like you’re trying to come to terms with your own hair journey all at once while fighting society’s beauty standards of what kind of hair is acceptable as a Black woman in front of the camera. Thing. I’m trying to teach myself that no matter how I style my hair, I’m still beautiful, valuable, and deserving. Afro, braids, extensions, natural hair, it doesn’t matter. I’m trying to take some of the pressure off myself. Honestly, I hate how black women’s hair is always a topic of discussion. I just want to be myself, wear my hair the way I want, show up to sets and shoots, and do my job like everyone else.

Are there any other Black women you look up to when it comes to beauty and style inspiration?
I’m definitely a big fan of Lori Harvey. I love everything she does when it comes to beauty and fashion. Of course, there’s Jasmine Tookes, Jourdan Dunn, and other black and brown Victoria’s Secret Angels. [who] Always a beauty goal. To be honest, Tracee Ellis Ross is always on my mood board. She is always experimenting with her own hair and trying her new things.I love quinta too [Brunson] And the hairstyle she’s been doing lately. Since awards season just happened, I’ve been seeing a lot of Zuri Hall, and she always has great hair and style choices.
Introducing your typical daily makeup look.
My daily makeup is very quick and easy. I create a BB/CC cream by mixing foundation and moisturizer to achieve the light, glowing veil-type finish I desire. I like my under-eyes to be very bright, so I use concealer afterwards and apply a very bright blush to add a little color over the makeup on my face. Next up is mascara and the most important step: eyebrows. Sometimes when we talk about makeup, we forget about eyebrows. That’s because, for me, trimming eyebrows doesn’t count as makeup. It is a non-negotiable necessity. Even when I’m rushing to get my stuff, I do my eyebrows, but I definitely fill them in and maybe dab in some highlight with my fingers.
Participating in TV shows, red carpets, press days, photo shoots, and constantly sitting in the hair and makeup chair can take a toll on your skin and hair. What skin care and hair care products do you use when your skin needs a little boost?
I always make sure to go to a dermatologist. I go to Paul Frank, M.D. on the Upper East Side and West Village and get facials with him. I’ve struggled with acne all my life, and I’ve also struggled with hyperpigmentation.I use picolaser to treat pigmentation, but I can’t do it at home. [it’s] Always tranexamic acid I also love the mask. Clarins Cryo Cool Mask is great for refreshing your skin and making your pores look smaller. Let’s be real: no one likes big pores. I’m also a big fan of FaceGym. I always try to stop by there before an event. For hair, go to Sally Hershberger NoMad and the girl will give you a steam treatment.
