I miss the 90s. I may be biased, but I think it was the best decade with the best trends. It’s interesting to look back at how much technology has changed over the past 20+ years.
When we look back at these ’90s gadgets, we can’t help but feel nostalgic for those simpler times.
1. Talk Boy

How many kids in the ’90s had Talkboy on their Christmas list? We’re sure they did.Kevin McAllister made this toy famous in the classic movie Home Alone 2. Essentially, it was just a cassette player that allowed someone to record and play other people’s music. But to kids of the ’90s, it was a secret agent device used to obtain information on a mortal enemy. I wish I had had it when I was a kid.
2. Tamagotchi

There’s nothing worse than forgetting to feed your electronic pet and it dying in the middle of the night. Did we really need a death feature on an electronic pet for toddlers? As if 90s movies weren’t scaring us enough. These electronic pets require constant attention and may have been the first addictive app of our generation. I remember my children crying over Tamagotchi at school, and looking back on it now as an adult, I find it very heartwarming.
3. Pager

Only the coolest kids at my school had pagers. These devices, the predecessors of mobile phones, were the first way to contact people when they were away. These devices seem antiquated now that smartphones are everywhere, but I still remember paging my girlfriend with a “143.” Of course, that meant “I love you.” Too bad for those who didn’t get to experience the magic of the 90’s.
4. Discman

Before the invention of iPods and streaming music, people had to carry CDs and Discman with them when they went out. It’s great to be able to enjoy music on the go, but how frustrating is it when your song cuts out every time you climb over a small bump? Luckily, the technology has improved. I also had his Discman conversion kit in his first car for two years so he could blast out Blink 182 when he went to high school.
5. Floppy disk

In the 90s, there was no such thing as USB ports or storing documents in the cloud. No, I had to carry around a square plastic “disc” to store my homework. These discs were his iconic technology of the 90s and are still used as “save” icons in many computer programs. I can’t remember the last time I saw a floppy disk, but I miss the simpler days when movie villains stored the secrets of world domination on a simple floppy disk.
6. Polaroid I-Zone Camera

This mini-camera was revolutionary because it gave instant gratification to 90 children by printing out photos within minutes. The best part was that the photos were turned into stickers. If you were in the pictures that girls put in their school notebooks, you would think you looked cool. This was my first Top 8 MySpace page.
7. Game Boy

The Game Boy wasn’t the first handheld video gaming device, but it’s probably the most iconic. When I was a kid, I spent hours playing games on my Game Boy.classic games like Tetris, metroidand Donkey Kong It has made many boring road trips bearable. I wish I could go back in time and keep my old Game Boy so I could enjoy it as an adult.
8. Portable stereo

Before you could sync Bluetooth speakers with your phone, you needed a portable server to take your music with you on the go. I still remember my dad’s garage radio and my mom’s poolside radio that I listened to while working on projects. Now our kids will laugh when they see the effort and money we put into entertainment.
9. Sony PlayStation

One of the most iconic gaming systems of all time was released in the 1990s. The graphics and gameplay have advanced so much that players couldn’t believe it could get any better. Some of the best game series started with this device. It was the first of many new generations of PlayStation and remains one of the most popular platforms on the market.
10. See-through electronics

For some reason, we were all into see-through electronics in the ’90s. The obsession with see-through landlines started in the 80s, but soon everything became see-through. There was a see-through version of the Nintendo 64, a Game Boy, and other random things with wires. It led to his one of the most iconic Apple computers, but it was a trend in the 2000s.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. The same can be said about movies.
Some of our favorite movies are ones that we watched without any expectations. Nevertheless, they surprised us from start to finish.
