Our nation’s caffeine fiends guzzled down the world’s strongest energy drink in hopes of getting a crazy rush, but were surprised by the results.
To celebrate the global launch of Tenzing, maker of all-natural energy drinks for daytime energy, Charles Wade Palmer has taken a stab at a caffeinated beverage. The brand’s latest drink boasts a whopping 200mg of caffeine from green coffee beans, nearly seven times the amount found in a regular cup of coffee.
“Sorry for the poor language, but reading that before forcing open my stash of drinks didn’t inspire much confidence for what was to come,” Charles said, taking a swig of cold beer to steel himself.

When I first tried the limited edition Supernatural Energy, I was hit with the aroma of mango and ginger.
He was surprised by the taste and wondered how something so strong could taste so good. Charles downed the whole can as if it were ginger beer and waited for the palpitations to begin.
“Tenzing described the drink as hot, and that certainly was true,” he says. “As the taste warmed pleasantly in my mouth, my attention quickly shifted to what followed.
“It was a short but fun moment. I forgot why I was drinking beer in front of the camera. I was prepared for a sudden burst of energy and to jump from wall to wall, but it’s fair to say that didn’t happen.”

Far from feeling like he couldn’t sleep for the next week, Charles got through the caffeine overdose “like a champ.” In fact, he didn’t experience any physical effects from downing the energy drink.
“My heart wasn’t racing, my head wasn’t spinning, my hands weren’t moving at all,” he recalled. “I didn’t get tired easily, and I didn’t feel like I was hitting a wall. The rest of the afternoon was normal until it was time to go to bed, and I had no trouble falling asleep.”
Charles tried the drink again the next morning as a pre-game fuel, but again, he got no energy boost. “Unfortunately, it wasn’t some magic pill that would improve my performance in the gym, but it didn’t do me any harm,” Charles added. “I guess my concern is how much caffeine I was taking in. Good luck to you all.”
