Alfie Best Jr, the hugely successful travel entrepreneur who caused a stir with his shock conversion to Islam, has explained why Islam is the perfect religion for him.
The son of “the world’s richest gypsy” has spoken out about his unexpected conversion to Islam.
Alfie Best Jr. is the son of Gypsy billionaire Alfie Best and recently appeared on Dodge Woodall’s podcast where he spoke about his humble origins and religious beliefs.
He picked up the Quran and said it immediately spoke to him: “It contained the morality that I was already living by. It was a beautiful code of morality for anyone, for any family,” Alfie recalled.
He went on to point out that intermittent fasting has recently been recognised as having significant health benefits, saying, “1,400 years ago the Quran said:
“They didn’t know if it was good or bad for you. The Quran contains scientific facts that were written at the time and that they wouldn’t have known 1,400 years ago.”
“People try to dispute it, but there’s no dispute about it. Everyone can agree that the Quran has never been changed.”
Alfie’s father has accepted his conversion without necessarily understanding it – the billionaire is too busy with work to study the Quran himself.
He says he was nervous about telling his father the news, but that his reaction was actually very positive: “I thought he’d look at me like I was crazy. I waited until time passed and then I asked him, ‘Dad, do you think this has made me a better person?'”
“He said, ‘No, you weren’t inherently a bad person, but it made you grow as a person.’ I thought that was a beautiful, brilliant explanation.”
Alfie’s newfound religious faith contrasts with his previous life running raucous nightclub events. “I’ve done traveller parties and they were literally out of control,” he explains. “We opened at eight o’clock, the police came and closed us down at 12 o’clock, but in that one night I made back all the money I’d put into the club.”
“There’s a feud going on before you even get into the club, and that’s where the problems can start.” Drinking only adds to the tension: Travelers are “the biggest drinkers you’ll ever see,” so tensions can get pretty intense pretty quickly.
He often hired professional security for his events, as regular bouncers wouldn’t know how to deal with the special demands of a roomful of drunk tourists.
