I’ve always loved doing my own makeup, but I have to admit that I’m a total sucker when it comes to hair. No matter how hard I try, hairstyling is not my forte. Even if you have the best curling iron at your disposal. As a beauty editor, I think it was a bit of a failure in that sense. Over the years, I’ve learned tips and tricks and I’m much more confident than when I used heated tools, but I’m almost guaranteed to burn my entire hand if I put it near a curling wand. That’s why I’ve always chosen *and* a straightening iron to straighten curls, along with my beloved Dyson Airwrap. And what brand did I choose? GHD, of course.
Like many people my age, my first tool was a GHD straightener. I like the others (namely Dyson, Babyliss, and Cloud Nine), but I always come back to them. I find this brand incredibly reliable and the products always give me the results I want (at least as much as possible with my limited skills).
When it comes to hairstyling, “Ease” is my middle name. It needs to be simple, quick, and basically fool-proof. This is why my interest was piqued when I first heard about the new GHD Chronos, which promises 3x faster styling. I’m all for tools that make routines more hassle-free. Dyson Airwrap has changed my life forever. So we know how valuable a new hair styler can be.
I tried Kronos myself both straight and curled. Here’s what I thought…
What is GHD Chronos?
The Chronos is a hair straightener, but GHD claims it’s the latest “hair grail” and the company’s “most technologically advanced styler.” The brand claims 3x faster styling (resulting in “one-stroke clarity”), 85% more shine, 2x less frizz, high-definition curling, no extreme heat damage, and a perfect finish. It is said to last for 24 hours. It’s just a list.
The brand seems to be most proud of the science behind the Kronos, which is evident through its HD Motion Responsive™ technology. This technology means the straightener continuously adapts to your styling movements and adjusts its power to monitor heat. The styler guarantees an optimal temperature of 185 degrees Celsius for both top-level results and reduced damage.
The design features a “redesigned wishbone hinge” that brings the plates together in a straight line, and the barrel has a curved design for easy curls and waves. The plates themselves are coated with an “ultra gloss”, meaning a smooth glide and a glossy finish.
Who is GHD Chronos best for?
GHD makes it clear that Kronos is designed for everyone, in that it’s “perfect for all hair types.” With that in mind, those looking for a new straightener or curler may want to give the Kronos a try.
This one-stroke, effective tool is perfect for those who want to limit the damage caused to their hair by repeated heat. If you want to switch your hair between smooth straight hair, beachy waves, and curls, this is a versatile styler that means all three are within reach to suit your mood. To do.
The big question is how this new styler (which, at £289, is the most expensive of the brand’s straightening irons apart from the wet-to-dry duet and cordless design) differs from the existing one. .
In a recent Instagram post, the brand provided a comparison of all hair straightening stylers to help shoppers choose the model that best suits them. The new Chronos D Motion Responsive™ technology is clearly the biggest selling point for customers to consider spending a little more on, as it promises more effective, easier and less damaging styling.
That said, the Original, Max, Gold, and Platinum+ stylers are all great options as well.

GHD Kronos hair straightener
GHD Chronos review
As I mentioned earlier, my biggest requirement for a new hair tool is that it makes my styling routine and life in general easier. I want a hair straightener that gives me results in minutes and makes my busy mornings a breeze.
We found that Kronos met these requirements. I felt the styling time was noticeably faster than other straighteners, requiring only up to two passes through each section (usually he only had one). When I used it to straighten my hair, I found that it instantly made my hair smooth and shiny, and it was easy to hold and use.
As for curls, I had fun using the Kronos, but to be honest, I didn’t see a huge difference in results compared to the original GHD styler (hence the difference between Kronos and the previous brand’s best The differences with Styler (Platinum+), a premium and effective tool, are perhaps even more minimal. This may be because I’ve been practicing the original shape for years and am using it as is rather than this slightly curved barrel. Just to be sure. Still, I got great results and would recommend it. It’s also worth mentioning that I think it’s great at creating. curl Not a loose wave.

However, it goes without saying that I can’t speak for people with different hair types. My hair is very fine and straight with slight natural waves that can be easily straightened or curled. However, as mentioned above, GHD emphasizes that this is a tool suitable for all hair types, so everyone should see great results (as they demonstrate in their social media videos).
final verdict
The Kronos is available in white and black and costs £289. Available directly from GHD’s website as well as retailers such as Cult Beauty and Lookfantastic.
Overall, I recommend Styler. Because using a styler will give you results and will make the process of styling easier and faster. If it’s still working fine, would you recommend throwing away your existing Platinum+ and buying Chronos? Absolutely not. At £289 it’s an investment. However, if you’re looking to upgrade, it’s a great option that will last you for years. It’s also not as expensive as other top-end options on the market, so that’s something to consider as well.
