HMD Global, the exclusive licensee of Nokia-branded mobile phones for the past eight years, announced Thursday that it will no longer use the iconic Nokia name on future launches. HMD Global rebranded Nokia’s social handles and website as Human Mobile Devices (HMD) and the Nokia.com/phones URL was redirected to his HMD Global site. HMD Global released a teaser video confirming the brand’s commitment to serving a wide range of customers in the market.
The mobile phone manufacturer’s website clearly details its plans to introduce smartphones that feature characteristics such as fun, safety, speed, and affordability.

While HMD operates independently, Nokia will rejoin well-known brands such as BlackBerry and Palm. Although these brands previously held important positions in the mobile phone market, they faced challenges to Apple and Google, ultimately leading to their early exit from the market. The brand highlighted its global presence, saying it has a presence in more than 200 countries and boasts a user base of more than 400 million Nokia users since its acquisition in 2016.
Looking to a bright future, HMD Global is actively laying the foundations for its transition from manufacturing Nokia-branded mobile phones to establishing itself as an independent brand. This transition is already underway, evident by the inactivity of both the Nokia.com/phones website and social media handles, which have been redirected to his new HMD Global website.
