The British and Northern Ireland teams to compete at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow 24 (March 1-3) have been announced today by British Athletics.
Teams were selected to meet the policy objectives of these championships. Optimize the number of medal successes and top 8s.
The full squad will be finalized once British Athletics approves the World Athletics Road to Glasgow rankings later this week. Depending on the player’s place in the ranking, the player will be recognized if he meets his UKA requirements as stated in the selection policy. Athletes in this position have been informed of their current selection status.
World Champion Josh Kerr (Coach: Danny Mackie, Coach: Edinburgh) [3000m] Olympic silver medalist Laura Muir (Steve Vernon, Dundee Hawkhill) [3000m] They are among the athletes selected to compete in front of their home crowd next month. Molly Caudalie (Scott Simpson, Thames Valley) joined the British national team in the best form of her career, breaking the world lead of 4.85 meters in the pole vault at the Microplus British Athletics Indoor Championships in Birmingham last weekend.
Kilbarcan’s Gemma Leakey (John Bigg) set a championship record at the Utilita Arena in the Championship and will compete in the women’s 800m, while Georgia Bell (Trevor) has been in brilliant form so far in 2024. Painter (Belgrave) has been called up to the GB and NI senior teams for the first time in his career.
