Girls Aloud have cancelled their first ever Birmingham show to pay an emotional tribute to band member Sarah Harding. Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Wash have reunited to celebrate 21 years since forming Girls Aloud after winning ITV’s Popstars: The Rivals.
The band is scheduled to perform three nights at Resorts World Arena, but took a break from the show on Tuesday night to pay tribute to Sarah, who died of breast cancer in 2021 at the age of 39.
Before performing their 2005 hit “Whole Lotta History,” Nicola described the song as “more moving than ever.” Sarah’s solo was accompanied by archival video footage of her performance, while the remaining four members sang the moving hit.

As the four girls left the stage, Sarah continued singing. A moving montage of black and white photos of Sarah was projected on the screen behind her. The screen read, “The darkest night gives birth to the brightest star.”
Girls Aloud featured Sara during a nearly two-hour show in Birmingham on Tuesday night, which included a solo performance of “I’ll Stand By You” and an encore of “The Promise.”
The Girls Aloud Show Tour will be coming to Resorts World Arena on Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, June 20. Tickets are available through Ticket Factory or Ticketmaster.
