Boys’ World, the five-member pop girl group that became a huge hit on TikTok in 2020, is disbanding. On Friday, the group shared an emotional video and letter to fans announcing their disbandment, citing changes in the industry and “things beyond our control.”
“After five unforgettable years filled with music, friendship and memories, we are sad to announce the disbanding of Boys’ World,” the letter read. “The members of Boys’ World grew not only as artists, but as sisters, learning from each other and becoming stronger together. We are forever grateful for these five years together.”
The group, comprised of Olivia Ruby, Queenie May, Lillian Kay, Makili and Elana Caceres, pointed to a “time of change and transition” in the music industry as the reason for their split.
In the video, all five members broke down in tears as they broke the news. “We’ve been through so much as a group and I can’t imagine what we would have been through without these kids,” Queenie said in the video. “Change is so scary and unsettling…This has been everything to us for the last five years.”
“We accept that there are some things beyond our control,” the group wrote. “Change can be scary and unsettling, but it can also be incredibly exciting. Change can open the door to opportunities and creative possibilities we never imagined.”
The group concluded by thanking their fans for being “the center of Boys World” and asking them to continue supporting the members as they “embark on new adventures.”
“Although we say goodbye for now, our music will live on forever and so will our friendship,” the note read. “Girlfriends Forever.”
Boys World was formed in 2019 by KYN Entertainment founder Sonny Takar, who previously served as president of Simon Cowell’s Syco Music, and officially launched with the single “Girlfriends” in 2020. The group showcased each member’s unique personality and gained a loyal following of 2 million on TikTok.
The group released their first EP. While you’re away, In 2021, she released an EP featuring the standouts “Relapse” and “Touched by an Angel,” followed by the EP “Me, My Girls & I” in 2023. Earlier this year, she released the single “Caught in Your Love.”
