The “World’s Sexiest Athlete” is officially heading to Paris for the Olympics.
German track and field star Alica Schmidt, who was previously given the adorable nickname, posted a video to her TikTok account over the weekend of when she found out she’d been selected for Germany’s Olympic team.
In the video, Schmidt becomes visibly emotional during the call and wipes tears from his eyes.
Schmidt was also walking around on his phone, trying to process the news as quickly as possible.
“When I got the call that I made the Olympic team,” Schmidt wrote in a video text with a teary-eyed emoji.
German track and field star Alica Schmidt was previously dubbed “the world’s sexiest athlete.”
Schmidt recently learned that he had been officially selected for the German Olympic track and field team.
Schmidt already qualified for the Olympics in May, and a recent phone call with a senior official at the German Olympic Committee likely formalized his participation in the Paris Games.
Schmidt, 25, was named “The World’s Sexiest Athlete” by Australian magazine Busted Coverage in 2017. Since then, she has become a frequent social media sensation, with over 7 million followers across Instagram and TikTok combined.
Schmidt also qualified to compete in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics but did not compete in the world championships.
The German has qualified this year in the 4x400m relay and if he officially competes on the oval it will be his first time competing on athletics’ biggest stage.
Schmidt further commented on social media about her upcoming Olympic debut.
“My biggest dream has come true! In just one month I will be in Paris and making memories that will last a lifetime,” Schmidt said. “This thought has motivated me every day these past few years and reminds me why it’s important to never give up on your goals and keep working hard.”
“No matter how big your dreams are, if you stick to your commitment and believe in yourself, good things will happen,” Schmidt continued.
