Boston, Massachusetts – May 28, 2024 – GBH, a Boston public media production company, has named Dan Lothian editor-in-chief of GBH News. worldAn award-winning journalist with extensive experience covering national and international news, Lothian currently serves as Executive Producer for The World., Public radio’s longest-running daily global news program, produced in Boston by GBH and PRX, a leading public radio and podcast distribution company.
“Dan has an impeccable resume and is respected by his colleagues at GBH and journalists around the world,” said Susan Goldberg, GBH president and CEO. “His experience in both breaking news and long-form features, along with his extensive experience across radio, television and digital platforms, makes him ideally suited to lead coverage for today’s audiences.”
As part of today’s announcement, current Editor-in-Chief Tink Lay said: worldwill be promoted to editor in chief of the show. She will continue to report to Lothian. GBH News editor in chief Lee Hill will also report to Lothian.
Lothian joins in world In 2021, he was named executive producer. Lothian spent over 10 years as a correspondent for CNN, covering the White House, presidential elections and breaking news, and has also worked in CNN’s Jerusalem bureau. He began his radio career at age 16 and later worked for several local television stations around the country. He then spent seven years as a national correspondent for NBC News, covering news for the Nightly News, the Today Show and MSNBC, as well as working in the Tel Aviv and Cairo bureaus.
Lothian will take up his new role from 1 June.
