Deals site Wowcher is currently running a ton of special deals on outdoor essentials, from garden furniture to storage and tools, and one deal that’s been catching shoppers’ attention recently is a deal on an electric weed eater. This nifty device has a 10-metre power cord, a powerful motor and replaceable nylon and metal brushes, designed to make removing weeds, moss and dirt a breeze.
Selling for £39.99 on the Wowcher website – £15 cheaper than Amazon – the vacuum is perfect for use between paving slabs and on the edges of patios and driveways, helping to keep your garden paved areas clean without the need for chemicals. Plus, the long handle means you don’t have to get down on your hands and knees to dig out weeds or scrape moss, making time-consuming tasks easier over summer.
The cordless option was out of stock on Wowcher at the time of writing, but you can buy it on Amazon for £67.99, and the online retail giant also offers a set of spare brushes – one nylon and one steel – for £14.99. Wowcher doesn’t feature reviews for the Garden Gear gadget, but on Amazon the same product has a high average rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars based on nearly 600 reviews from shoppers.
One person advised: “It’s very effective at removing surface weeds but doesn’t pull them out completely. My method is to spray an herbicide to stop the weeds from taking root. The results are yet to come. But it’s a lot less work than being on your knees for days working on big block paving.”
Others echoed this advice, with another reviewer writing: “I sprayed the entire driveway with herbicide to prime it two weeks before work began. All the grass and weeds between the bricks were brown and dead and easily removed with the weed whacker. I highly recommend this method as it makes removal much quicker and the metal wheel blasts away the moss and dead weeds like a hot knife cutting through butter. It’s much less strain on your back and I’m very happy with the results.”
A third shopper commented: “The wire brushes are great but the nylon brushes are pretty much a waste of time unless you have soft pavement. Other than that it’s perfect – it got rid of a year’s worth of moss and weeds from my driveway in a matter of hours, it would have taken days before.”
Fans of the gadget praised it as “amazing” and a “great tool”, saying it’s a “huge time saver” compared to using a manual brush. However, not everyone was impressed, with a few shoppers complaining that it felt “flaky” and “cheap”. It’s worth noting, however, that it’s significantly cheaper than Amazon’s number one best-selling weed remover, the Ryobi Patio Cleaner, which has a slightly higher rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars and more customer reviews, but costs £109.95.
