Gladiator Electro excelled in track and field as a child and, after achieving success in bodybuilding, turned to the field of CrossFit. Now she wants to inspire a new generation of sportswomen.
The new team of Gladiators is in full swing, with the third episode of the BBC One reboot set to air this weekend. And one of the new strong men and women promised to “light up the arena” with her incredible skills.
With his background as a sprinter turned bodybuilder, Gladiator Electro has the perfect formula of speed and strength. Jade Packer was ranked in the top 10 fastest 150m runners in Britain at the age of 12 and competed in the 100m and 200m races at the Championships.
The 25-year-old runner discovered his passion for bodybuilding at the age of 18 and went on to represent Great Britain after winning gold at the British Grand Prix and finishing top three in the Wellness category at UKBFF four times. Jade is currently training in CrossFit, which he says has honed his athletic ability and he works as an online fitness coach.
The fitness model chose the name Electro for her gladiator alter ego, describing it as “a good combination of speed and strength, like lightning.” “I don’t know when or how hard I’m going to strike. I also want to look good while I’m striking,” she said.
“We are all athletes with our own rights,” Electro added. “As the show progressed, we all understood the game more and knew exactly what we needed to strive for. I felt confident in my abilities.”
Jade, from Essex, was too young to remember the original Gladiators show, which starred Ulrika Jonsson and Jon Fashanu and was a huge hit in the 1990s, and instead discovered the show on YouTube. The new 11-episode long BBC version is brought to you by father and son duo Bradley and Bradley Walsh, and features classic games such as Duel and Hang Him Tough as well as some new events. It is characterized by its combination.
“I wanted to be a gladiator because throughout my fitness journey, I was inspired by watching others inspire in the sport,” she said. “It’s great for new generations to meet people who might look like them, people they can relate to, and realize that they can fall in love with sport wherever they are, or just be able to do what they’ve been doing. I believe it’s an opportunity that I couldn’t imagine before. ”
Watch Gladiators on Saturdays at 5.50pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
