Freddie Mercury’s London home has been sold for more than 30 million pounds ($38 million).
The Knight Frank-listed mansion, known as Garden Lodge, was purchased by the Queen rock star in 1980, according to a Monday press release.
When he died in 1991, he left the house and all of its property to his friend Mary Austin.
In 2023, Austin announced that he would be stepping away from his role as custodian of belongings. Later that year, Sotheby’s hosted the “Freddie Mercury: A World of His Own” auction, in which Mercury’s possessions, including the piano he used to compose “Bohemian Rhapsody,” sold for more than $2 million.

Now it’s time to sell his former home itself.
“This house was a box of the most glorious memories because there was love and warmth in every room,” Austin said, according to the release. “Now that no one is around, I go back to the feeling I had when I first saw this building. Ever since Freddie and I walked through the legendary green door, it has been a place of peace, a true artist’s home.” .And now is the time.”To pass on that peace of mind to the next person. ”

The house was built in 1907 in a neo-Georgian style, and Mercury commissioned interior architect Robin Moore Ehde to redesign the house to fit his unique style.
Mr Knight Frank says the property is of “grand proportions yet offers a comfortable homely feel”. It includes his two-story drawing room with large windows where he kept his piano, his cozy dining room painted his favorite color, and his room away from the crowded city streets. Includes a garden.
The main upstairs suite is accessed through a dressing room with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, which Knight Frank describes as “a stage set in itself.”
“With a great passion for entertaining his closest friends, Freddie designed the home to be a memorable and welcoming place that reflected his vibrant personality and eclectic vision. ” states the release.
