The former Italian embassy in London, now a luxury mansion, has been put up for sale for the first time in more than a century with a price tag of £21.5 million (US$27.2 million).
The six-bedroom Belgravia townhouse was built in the early 20th century and was acquired by the Italian government in 1923 to serve as the capital’s embassy, according to Beauchamp Estates, which put the home on the market last week.

The building was then used as the official residence of the embassy and then as the office of the Italian defense attaché, but between 2009 and 2011 new owners converted the property back into a luxury private residence.
Beacham Estate said the listing marks the first time the property has been sold on the open market since 1923.
