Luxury car maker Rolls-Royce has officially unveiled India’s first electric vehicle, a flashy and flashy vehicle, at an event in New Delhi. The car will be launched in the global market in 2023 with a starting price of Rs 100 million. A 75,000 square meter former showroom located in India. However, the price is higher because buyers can choose from several optional add-ons to customize the coupe to their liking. The brand unveiled a dual-tone gray color variant to the media.
The Rolls-Royce Specter is a four-seater two-door coupe. It is 5.5 meters long and has a drag coefficient of 0.25. The car features a distinctive design language including an illuminated grille, a redesigned Ecstasy spirit that will be used on all future Rolls-Royce cars, and the same split headlights as the Phantom.
One of the distinguishing features is the 1.5 meter long door. It is the largest Rolls-Royce ever built and is truly majestic. The door is built like a tank, and although it’s heavy, it doesn’t require much force to open or close. To enhance the overall user experience, Rolls-Royce has added controls that automate the opening and closing of the driver’s door. This is very impressive, but given the price, this is the least you can expect.
Directly below the door are branded turn signals in chrome housings on either side. According to the brand, the Rolls-Royce Specter features large 23-inch wheels made from bespoke aluminum alloy with the Rolls-Royce logo, which help improve the car’s performance.
For the charging port, simply press the cover and the cover will pop out to reveal the port.
The all-new Spirit of Ecstasy retracts when the bonnet pops out from inside the car. This is standard for all new versions of the brand.
Despite the redesigned body, it still feels like a Rolls-Royce from the inside, with plenty of technology built into it.
The first thing we noticed inside the cabin was the Starlight design on the doors. Starlight headliners aren’t new, but when combined with giant doors that feature the same star-like lights, the sight is a sight to behold.
Although we weren’t able to drive this model, we found that passengers couldn’t hear a thing while this beast was on the road. When my colleague and I were filming inside the car, we couldn’t hear a single word of conversation from the people outside. As you would expect from Rolls-Royce, the car’s sound deadening is next level.
The dual-tone seats are hand-stitched and feature the Rolls-Royce logo on the headrests. The version we got had a gray and orange color scheme. The seat is very comfortable and provides just the right amount of bounce when a person sits on it. The front armrest is also upholstered in leather and is connected to the center console with door control toggles, buttons to activate certain functions on the infotainment console, navigation dial and cupholders with chrome rings around them.
Access the rear seats by moving the front seats forward with the push of a button. Movement is very smooth, but the feeling of getting in and out of the passenger seat was not what I would expect from a car in this price range.
The car has two digital screens in the cabin, one for the infotainment system supported by Eleanor, the car’s virtual assistant, and one for the bespoke instrument dials. The infotainment system uses a large touch screen with just about every feature you can imagine, including wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and physical controls for navigating and reaching specific functions within the infotainment.
Rolls-Royce has used bespoke wood and leather throughout the cabin, giving buyers the impressive level of vitality they desire. All dials, AC vents, buttons, etc. have a vintage feel, and there are plenty of customization options.
Spectre also features an illuminated fascia that spells out “Spectre” on a piano black background, combined with more than 5,500 stars representing the wings of the “Spirit of Ecstasy.”
The steering wheel is another nod to the Spectre’s style, with the classic Rolls-Royce logo in the center and plenty of controls at your disposal.
Despite all the luxury features, this is an EV that is claimed to be able to travel 530 km on a single charge. The Rolls-Royce Specter has a 102kWh battery that charges 10-80% in just 34 minutes with a 194kW (DC) charger, 10-80% in 95 minutes with a 50kW (DC) charger, 0- It can be charged up to 100%. The company says it can be charged in 5 hours and 30 minutes using a 22kW (AC) charger.
In terms of performance, the Specter produces 584 hp of power and 900 NM of torque, which is said to be very linear. This way, you won’t feel any sudden shocks when accelerating or stopping. This car is equipped with two electric motors, one for the front wheels and generates 365 NM, and one that drives the rear wheels and generates 710 NM. Rolls-Royce claims the Specter can accelerate from 0-100km in just 4.5 seconds, but we weren’t able to test that.
What do we think about it?
The Rolls-Royce Specter is the luxury car manufacturer’s first electric vehicle. The brand has pledged to have an entire portfolio of electric vehicles by 2030, and the first models do not disappoint. Each Rolls-Royce is made to order, allowing buyers to customize almost every aspect of their car before purchasing. Although no media activities were planned for Spector in India, the time spent with him was enough to leave an impression. This car looks incredible from the outside and has some of the most luxurious features on the inside as well. 7.5 Earl’s former showroom? This is the epitome of luxury.
If you are a luxury car enthusiast and have a lot of money, you will definitely enjoy experiencing this car.
