line
The Playhouse // 28 February – 9 March // £22
Set in five prisons over five decades, Lines explores the threads that unite a seemingly disparate group of people.A look at postcolonial life in Uganda, Palestine, and Britain
One of the central questions in the play is what happens if we remove colonialism from the historical equation. If you think about it on a global scale, where are the superpowers? Do superpowers exist? Would there have been more wars or fewer? Racism and global equality: what would it look like?
On a personal level, this play is very likely not to exist. The fact is, whether we like it or not, the existence and history of colonialism affects everything, both globally and on a personal level.
These decisions have affected people’s lives in the past, they affect us now, and they will continue to affect us tomorrow. Are exploring these themes more relevant than yesterday? Yes. Is it today? yes. Will it be tomorrow? Yes, absolutely.
