Children at Falmouth Primary School are already researching for a trip to London
A Cornish school plans to pay for students’ overnight trips to London to help parents with living costs.
Parents will not have to pay a penny for a three-day trip at Falmouth Primary School as school leaders say they are aware of the financial pressures.
None of the fifth graders have ever been to London.
They look forward to visits to some of the capital’s museums, West End shows and rides on the London Eye.
“It’s not realistic”
Headteacher Jess Mills said the situation was “really tough” for the family.
“Parents are already working hard to feed and clothe their children, but asking them to pay for a trip to London is not practical,” she said.

An appeal has been launched to raise £3,500 to cover travel costs, but if the appeal does not reach its target the school will foot the difference.
The itinerary includes the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, seeing The Lion King in the West End, riding the London Eye, and the Harry Potter Studio Tour.
Fifth grade teacher Kerenza Barnett said it would be a “packed three days.”
“London is very different to Cornwall.
“It’s very busy, there’s a lot of people, there’s a lot of different nationalities. It’s going to be a great opportunity for the kids to experience another culture,” she added.
