Meghan Markle and Prince Harry won’t be able to visit Australia during their world tour, despite a hugely successful trip to Nigeria.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020, now face a hurdle over their rumoured visit to Australia. Royal reporter Louise Roberts believes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ready to embark on a “world tour” after their successful visit to Nigeria. But she criticised the couple’s previous claims that they want “privacy”.
She told Sky News Australia: “After their successful visit to Nigeria in May, Prince Harry commented that he would like to do more of this, to be honest,” adding, during the channel’s royal report, “They are very keen on privacy, but a world tour would be a complete contradiction.”

The reporter also said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “will not be able to visit Australia” in the near future because an unofficial visit would likely overlap with Prince Charles and Camilla’s tour of Australia in October. “They can’t go where Prince Charles and Camilla are going, so they can’t go to Australia,” the reporter said.
Meanwhile, Meghan and Prince Harry gave fans a glimpse into what happened behind the scenes during their visit to Nigeria, with Meghan getting emotional in a surprising moment as she received a special gift for Archie and Lilibet.
The occasion was all the more poignant as Meghan previously spoke about how much she missed being with her family on Mother’s Day. During a high-profile visit to the continent, the Duchess of Sussex was reportedly left speechless by the actions of little 13-year-old Grace Busari.
Meghan was reportedly thrilled when she was gifted a pair of beautiful hand-stitched teddy bears by Grace, 13, the daughter of CNN’s Nigeria bureau chief and senior editor, who was invited to accompany Harry and Meghan on their visit.
Meghan was close to tears when she saw Grace’s stuffed animals, made from traditional African print fabrics, from her brand @graceteddies, and hugged Grace’s proud mother, Stephanie, who was at the Women in Business conference with Meghan when she spoke about the groundbreaking journey.
She said: “Wow! What an amazing weekend! I flew to Abuja to cover the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s visit and really didn’t know what to expect. I was so pleasantly surprised. They are fun, caring, loving, compassionate and so natural with a crowd. It was moving to see Harry sitting on the floor playing volleyball with disabled servicemen and he showed such compassion again during his visit to the hospital in Kaduna.”
“It was a private visit, but it felt like a royal tour, albeit with a different name! I’m so happy that Harry and Meghan visited Nigeria to highlight wounded service members, the Invictus Games, mental health and dispel the misconception that Nigeria is a dangerous place!
