His latest sculptures and paintings depict angelic, winged beings who use welding equipment to create worlds.
Equipped with a pair of wings, a welder’s mask and a torch, it recalls Sir Billy’s days working in a shipyard.
Sir Billy said: “This new release ‘And On Monday, God Made the World’ is a serious statement.
“He’s a welder. I did him to remind me of my background. Welders are often in that position. When I first drew it, it was just a pencil drawing.
“Welding is lead-colored, but when I colored him, he became the most cheerful welder in the world.”
He added: “A big part of me is still a welder. I quit being a welder because I was very popular playing banjo and singing in folk clubs.
“So I decided to quit my job and make a living doing this. I said I’d do it for three months, if it lasted, I’d go back to being a welder.
“Soon after that I read in the paper about ‘Comedian Billy Connolly’ and I thought I had done it.”
Ian Weatherby-Blyth, Managing Director of Castle Fine Art, said: “These national events provide an incredible opportunity to see special films and step into Billy’s world, and we are so lucky to be a part of it.
“Billy was one of Castle Fine Art’s closest collaborators and these films provide insight into our regular meetings with him.
“Billy wanted event attendees to preview a new series of four signed, limited edition pieces that are not available online at Castle Fine Art.”
