England will take on Australia in the second match of the T20 World Cup after their opening match against Scotland in Barbados was cancelled.
The old rivalry between the two nations, which culminated in last summer’s Ashes, will be reignited when they meet at Kensington Oval.
England went into the tournament as the defending champions but their opening match was not what they or the tournament had hoped for, with just 10 overs played and everyone in red left frustrated after two of their four home warm-up matches were abandoned before a single ball was bowled.
Australia’s preparations have gone rather smoothly, arriving in the Caribbean while England were still facing rain-related match delays, but they have had to use some of their coaching staff to make up numbers in warm-up matches.

Jofra Archer felt he was a ‘burden’ on England during his injury layoff
Jofra Archer admits he has been hurt by the negative reactions he experienced during his long injury absence amid concerns he was becoming a “burden” to England.
Archer burst onto the cricketing scene in 2019, helping India win the 50-over World Cup in his debut summer and shaking up Australia in the Ashes, steadily working his way to becoming a cricketing superstar.
But since then he has been plagued by fitness issues, with stress fractures in his right elbow and back limiting him to just a handful of appearances in recent years.
England remained committed to the player they rate as a game-changing figure at the peak of his career, keeping him in their central team on a lucrative contract during his lengthy rehabilitation and signing a new two-year deal last autumn.

No need to sit back and watch it – Jonny Bairstow won’t revisit run-out storm
Bairstow’s highly controversial dismissal at Lord’s Ground has been a major focus of the in-depth series, with many commentators in the Australian camp taking great delight in recalling an incident which many felt undermined the spirit of football and which has drawn comments from the prime ministers of both countries.
While the man at the centre of that drama didn’t log on to relive the moment, it was a somber reminder that England rallied after the melee and dominated the next three Test matches before having to settle for 2-2 in a rain-affected draw at Old Trafford.
“To be honest with you, I haven’t been watching anything. I have other shows to watch on TV so I don’t need to sit in my hotel room and watch it,” he said.

No need to sit back and watch it – Jonny Bairstow won’t revisit run-out storm
Jonny Bairstow has no intention of watching Australia’s latest behind-the-scenes documentary ahead of their T20 World Cup rematch but believes his controversial run-out last summer has helped raise the level of England’s game.
The rivals meet in Barbados on Saturday in a game that will have a major impact on the standings in Group B, with England especially keen to pick up some points after their game against Scotland was rained out.
But tensions from last summer’s Ashes still linger close to the surface, and some bad feelings have resurfaced since season three of The Test recently debuted on Prime Video.

Team news
England are thought to have no fresh concerns after the rain-suspended opening match and their batting line-up appears set, with Mark Wood and Chris Jordan likely to retain their places in the seam attack alongside Jofra Archer.
Nathan Ellis, a man of genuine death bowling prowess, impressed against Oman but may not be available to replace Pat Cummins if Australia look to reunite their big three fast bowlers, with Matthew Wade likely to be selected ahead of Josh Inglis to retain the gloves.

Will England vs Australia be broadcast on TV? What time does it start, which channel and how to watch the T20 World Cup?
The first match between England and Scotland was shortened due to rain and ended in no result, with both teams picking up one point each.
Only the top two teams from Group B will progress to the Super 8 stage, so a loss to their rivals here would put Matthew Mott’s team in real danger of not progressing.
Australia began the tournament with a win over Oman thanks to an all-round brilliant performance from Marcus Stoinis despite an early crisis.
Here’s everything you need to know.
