Childish Gambino, aka actor Donald Glover, was busy on Monday, announcing a new album, music video and upcoming world tour dates.
The Atlanta actor, 40, shared the news on his social media platforms.
“Atavista is currently streaming. This album is the completed version of the album “3.15.20” released four years ago, and a special vinyl with visuals for each song will be released soon. A brand new Childish Gambino album will be released this summer. Also… Littlefoot, Bigfoot videos,” he wrote on Instagram.
The new version of the album features two new songs, “Atavista” and “Human Sacrifice,” and includes collaborations with Ariana Grande, 21 Savage, and Young Nudy.
He also premiered the official video for Little Foot Big Foot featuring Young Nudie, shot in black and white by Hiro Murai and featuring a cameo from Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson.
He also announced dates for his long-awaited world tour, which begins August 11th in Oklahoma City and ends October 3rd in Chicago.
Glover begins his UK and European tour on October 31st in Lyon, France, and concludes in Dublin on December 4th.
The Australia and New Zealand leg of the tour begins in Auckland, New Zealand on January 28th and concludes in Perth, Australia on February 11th.
This tour will be their first since headlining at Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee in 2019.
Glover’s tour will be supported by WILLOW and Amarae led by Willow Smith. Tickets go on sale Friday.
He plans to release another album as Gambino later this year, the soundtrack for the film Bando Stone & the New World.
Gambino has been threatening to retire from music since at least 2017, confirming that the Bando Stone album will be his last album as his alter ego.
“There’s nothing worse than the third sequel, the third movie. You’re like, ‘Again?'” he told HuffPo while promoting Atlanta in 2017.
“You know, I like when something is good, and when it comes back, there’s a reason to come back and there’s a reason to do it,” he continued.
“I think you need a reason to do something, and I’ve always had a reason to be a punk,” he explained.
“Being a punk has always been very comfortable for me, and we always looked at Atlanta as a punk show, so I feel like the direction I’m going with Childish Gambino isn’t punk anymore.”
“‘Redbone’ is a gospel song that’s being played on the radio, so as much as it’s a punk song, I think there’s only so much you can do with it before it gets played on the radio.”
