Anyone who knows me will know that I love sweet and sweet scents. Perfumes with vanilla, caramel, or candy floss scents are instant winners in my eyes. That being said, this year I’ve made it my mission to find a signature scent that doesn’t fit into this category. I’m a big fan of gourmand scents, but I wanted to add a perfume with a more woody, earthy base to my collection. Why, I hear you ask? I don’t know about you, but I happen to find this group of fragrances to be very chic and luxurious scents, and a nice change from my usual go-to perfumes.

When I was looking for a new perfume, I already had a few brands in mind, including Byredo, Le Labo, and Jo Malone. But after browsing the fragrance halls of Selfridges and Liberty, I found a scent from my favorite French perfume brand and fell in love at first sight. If you’re wondering what brand I’m talking about, it’s none other than Diptyque. You’ve probably seen perfume bottles pop up on your Instagram feed, thanks to their chic monochrome packaging and perfume bottles that smell as luxurious as they look. So, which one did I go to? After trying many of the best sellers, we settled on Tam Dao. Because just one spritz made me feel like I was living the best of Paris. Want to know what it smells like? diptyque tam dao perfume review

Annotation
First of all, what does this perfume actually smell like? This best-selling fragrance includes creamy sandalwood, woody cedar, fresh cypress, and citrusy rosewood. The refreshing, earthy, and slightly spicy scent gives it a sensual touch. I’m used to wearing perfumes that remind me of biting into a sugar-dusted donut, but this one makes me feel like I’m holed up in a candlelit bar on a side street in Paris, drinking a sparkling cocktail. Become.
I’ve tried quite a few perfumes over the years, and I can safely say that this is one of the most unique scents I’ve come across. In fact, since I added it to my collection, multiple people have come up to me and complimented me on the scent.
longevity
So, does this perfume last long? Like most Diptyque perfumes I’ve tried, this scent definitely lingers on the skin. It’s one of those fragrances that you can spray on your jumper and the scent will stay with you even when you change clothes at the end of the day. That being said, it’s not as strong as the more musky scents from brands like Fleur de Peau and Oud Palau, due to its lighter, more refreshing notes. I didn’t have to refill it throughout the day, but I did find that I needed an extra spray when I went out in the evening.
Packaging

One of my favorite things about Diptyque perfumes (aside from the drool-worthy scent) is the packaging. If you’re going to spend a lot of money on a perfume, you want it to look great on your dressing table, and this brand always delivers when it comes to chic-looking bottles. The monochrome packaging and distinctive circular logo instantly elevates other items in my perfume collection, and I love using this bottle when I’m on the go.
verdict
Like most luxury fragrances, this one doesn’t come cheap. At £95 for a 50ml bottle, it’s an investment, but I’d say it’s worth it. Not only does opening a fragrance feel like a luxurious experience, but to me it smells much more expensive than it actually is. You don’t need to use a lot to make an impact, so this bottle should last you a long time. In my opinion, this fragrance can be used all year round.
Buy Diptyque Tam Dao Perfume:

Diptyque Paris
Tam Dao Eau de Toilette
If you’re looking to add a chic, everyday scent to your collection, I highly recommend giving it a try.
Shop more expensive scented fragrances:

mojave ghost eau de parfum
Byredo is another chic perfume brand that I’m obsessed with. My favorite scent is Mojave Ghost because of the amber, cedarwood, and magnolia notes.

Parfum de Marly
valaya eau de parfum
If you haven’t tried the scents of Parfum de Marly yet, what are you expecting? The brand creates some of the most luxurious scents, and Valaya is a woody, floral perfume that’s perfect for everyday.

Le Labo
Santal 33 Eau de Parfum
I’m sure you’ve all heard of this perfume, and for good reason. Not only is the packaging chic, but the warm, spicy scent is intoxicating.

floral street
black lotus eau de parfum
This is one of my favorite perfumes when I want to turn heads.

Diptyque Paris
orpheon eau de parfum
Another great option for Diptyque is Orphéon. Think juniper berry, cedar, tonka bean, and jasmine.

tom ford
cafe rose eau de parfum
I don’t really like rose scents, but this one from Tom Ford is a very expensive scent.

penhaligons
Halfeti Eau de Parfum
Penhaligon’s Halfetti is also a very unique and sensual scent and I love saving this for date night.

Marine + Getz
dark rum eau de parfum
Malin + Goetz’s signature scent features bergamot, plum, leather, and amber.

Byredo
Super Cedar Eau de Parfum
If you like really woody scents, you’ll love Byredo’s Super Cedar, which has notes of cedarwood, vetiver, and rose.

Le Labo
Tenoir 29 Eau de Parfum
If Santal 33 is not your style, we recommend Thé Noir 29. This fragrance is very expensive thanks to bergamot, fig, cedarwood, vetiver and musk.
next, I like perfume, but high street fragrances smell very expensive.
