Nigel Farage today demanded that foreign bureaucrats be banned from forcing further lockdowns on freedom-loving Brits.
The former Brexit Party leader has warned that the World Health Organization needs urgent reform to avoid imposing major restrictions on sovereign nations.
A new treaty due to be signed this month could give the UN agency wide powers to force social distancing measures on member states such as the UK.
Mr Farage argued that the UK should leave the WHO unless major changes are forced.
He told The Sun: “Simply put, this is a very dangerous organization.
“They are now asking the UK and other countries to sign the ‘Lockdown Treaty’, which would give them the power to lock down the UK in the event of a future pandemic without the consent of the British people. That will happen.”
The WHO was established to monitor and coordinate global responses to issues such as genetically modified foods, climate change, and tobacco use.
But critics have accused the agency of constantly expanding its powers and powers in recent years.
Mr Farage argued that the WHO should go back to its roots and focus on information sharing and guidance against taking control away from countries and people.
The Reform UK honorary chairman also called on the organization to cut costs by 50 per cent by cutting spending on luxury travel and thousands of staff.
He said: “The World Health Organization is like the European Union.
“The bureaucrats running it have never been elected and are wasting billions of our money and trying to control our lives.
“If Mr Sunak and Mr Cameron choose to relinquish sovereignty over our health, we may have to withdraw from the WHO altogether.”
