
China. American-French beauty house Coty has partnered with China Duty Free Group (CDFG) to open a collection of beauty stores at the Global Beauty Plaza (Block C) of the CDF Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay.
Coty’s Gucci, Burberry and Chloe brands have opened standalone boutiques at Global Beauty Plaza, one of the most anticipated openings of 2023.

Gucci has opened its largest flagship store in Hainan, approximately 100 square meters, on the second floor. During the Lunar New Year (February 10), Gucci carried out floral print trolley promotion and sampling activities, attracting many customers. With the opening and Lunar New Year campaign, Gucci achieved a double-digit sales increase in Block A stores compared to the same period in 2023.


Burberry’s flagship store offers a carefully selected selection of leading makeup and fragrance franchises. This is only his third Burberry Beauty flagship store in the world and is designed to provide travelers with an immersive and luxurious shopping experience.
The retail design, which features bronze product displays with mint green accents, is consistent with the Burberry fashion house’s brand universe and its ‘One Brand Power’ strategy.
According to Coty, the strong performance of Burberry’s 2023 hero launch, the Goddess fragrance, led to more than 40% increase in sell-outs at CDF Mall compared to the previous year.

Chloe’s flagship boutique, located on the third floor of Global Beauty Plaza, is Hainan’s first independent boutique. The store takes inspiration from the French “art of the bouquet” and immerses shoppers in a romantic and elegant atmosphere.To commemorate the opening, Chloe launched a limited edition Chinese New Year-themed gift set during the Chinese New Year period (40 Days After Chinese New Year – Ed).
Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu and premium skincare brand Lancaster have also opened counters at Global Beauty Plaza. Notably, Lancaster has set up shop on his first floor and offers the brand’s signature cellular youth recovery treatments to his CDF VIPs through the brand’s spa treatment room on the third floor.


The opening of three independent boutiques propels Coty’s continued expansion in Hainan. Over the past few years, Coty has opened numerous stores and counters, hosted several events, and worked to strengthen partnerships with major retailers.
Coty says its brands have outperformed since opening in Block C in late 2023. Coty expects another strong year ahead and will be holding exclusive O2O activations within the Global Beauty Plaza. These include her March Burberry Her Goddess campaign celebrating International Women’s Day, and a spring pop-up showcasing Gucci Bloom fragrances.
As reportedCoty recorded net revenue growth of +13% year-over-year (+11% year-over-year) to USD 1,727.6 million in Q2 FY24.
This performance was driven by a strong travel retail business, with revenues up +20% year-on-year in 1H FY24.
This momentum spread evenly across categories and regions, with double-digit sales growth in travel retail in Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific, where Coty said it was gaining significant market share. Ta. ✈
