An unusual traffic stop has been reported in the US, leaving law enforcement social media users stunned.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri released a photo taken by an officer who pulled over a vehicle that looked somewhat futuristic and resembled a UFO.
In a post on its Facebook page, the department found the encounter amusing, saying, “You never know what goes through Crawford County, but this is a little out of this world.”
The “friendly humanoids” in a UFO-like vehicle “arrived peacefully,” they wrote, and were, perhaps not surprisingly, heading to a festival in Roswell, New Mexico, a city long associated with extraterrestrial activity.
The office’s post said there was a brief conversation “regarding space shortages, corrections and out-of-state registration,” but that “he promised to resolve the issues upon his return to Krypton.”
“He was also warned of strict enforcement of warp speed on interstate highways and to keep his phasers in stun mode only while traveling,” it added.
Reactions on social media were similarly tongue-in-cheek, with several users saying they had seen the car in other locations, and some even uploading videos of it driving on the road.
The office’s sense of humour was also praised, with one Facebook user referencing Star Trek and claiming they “refilled the owner’s dilithium crystals so he could keep working!”
However, there were also concerns about the impact on vehicle safety.
Multiple posts confirm that the owner is from Indiana, a claim that has been corroborated by multiple media reports, including a 2014 article from the Indy Star, which reported that the “saucer car” was “designed and built from a cut-down 1991 Geo Metro.”
