With a demo available on Steam and native Linux support, Counterpick Labs looks to be a fun addition to the platform fighter genre – and it’s free.
The ability to create your own fighter in Counterpick Labs looks like a lot of fun and is definitely worth keeping an eye on, as it’s quite a departure from the static character builds that are common in these types of games – it’s nice to see a developer trying something a little different with an established genre.

Features:
- Smooth platform combat action – Defeat your opponents with combos to knock them off the stage and secure the victory. Play locally or online with rollback netcode. Free to play with no power purchases required.
- Build the perfect fighter plane – Over 200 (and growing!) gear combinations with countless cosmetic options. For a sturdy ranged build, combine the power of Oleg with the teleportation of Warp Mines and throwing Chakrams to deal damage from afar. Or dominate the skies by combining the triple jump of the Space Suit with the maneuverability of Jet Boots and the momentum-altering recoil of the Flame Cannon.
- Classic & Roguelike Combat – Enjoy intense, skill-based combat in Classic Mode, or try your luck in the roguelike Arena Mode, where you can earn powerful upgrades during combat, from elemental weapon auras to ricocheting bullets to dramatic stat boosts.
Check it out on Steam – a demo is available and it will enter early access on July 12th.
