Numerous emergency services remain in the area
Three people have been injured in a shooting during a police pursuit in Clapham, south London.
Two people were injured by shotgun bullets when a deadly weapon was fired by a motorbike rider being chased by police near Clapham Common Southside, the Metropolitan Police said.
A third person was injured by a moped in the incident just before 5pm GMT. The two suspects fled the scene.
London Ambulance Service transported two of the injured to a major trauma centre.
The other person was taken to the hospital, and police said a firearm was recovered at the scene.
“Police everywhere”
One witness told the BBC that he was in a pub in Bellevue when he heard a gunshot, followed by a second gunshot that went through the window of the pub.
“I saw a man wearing what looked like a jersey run away and a police car chased him at high speed,” he said. “Then I went back to the pub and saw the girl who was facing towards the bar with what looked like blood coming from the soles of her feet.”
He said he told officers to bring in paramedics to help the woman, who was “quite relaxed” but “quite in shock.”
Witnesses suggested that the two men were shot at the same time, saying: “One woman was sitting right in front of the window and the gun hit her in the side of the head. The other woman was standing at the bar. ‘ he suggested.
He added that if the woman sitting in front of the window had sat in the empty seat on the right, she “would have been shot all over the face.”
“It’s insane how close we were to something even more tragic,” he said.
A barber named Kaka who worked nearby said: “I was at my shop just before 5pm when I heard gunshots in the road.
“We were all shocked because it was so close and there were police everywhere afterwards.”
A large number of emergency services remained in the cordoned off area.
Forensic teams were seen working in and around The Bellevue pub, but no arrests have been made so far.
Police are continuing to investigate the two suspects.
