A skyscraper as tall as The Shard is planned for London.
The revised proposal includes a new stepped design in place of the previous rectangular one, and the building first received approval in 2016.
A public consultation has been held on proposals to install London’s tallest public viewing gallery at the top of a skyscraper.
Under the new plans, developers want to make the building slightly taller, which would make it the second tallest building in the capital at 309.6 meters (1015.8 feet).
It will be built between the Gherkin and Cheesegrater buildings and will be the tallest building in the city’s financial district, and will be built after the demolition of the existing Aviva Tower.
The proposal calls for a “high-rise podium garden,” a restaurant and a “flexible cultural space” on the 11th floor. He also plans to build a two-story “educational space” supervised by the Museum of London.
Singapore developer Perennial Group and development manager Stanhope have submitted a new planning application with changes to reflect the reduction in office work following the pandemic.
Eric Parry Architects, which is driving the plans, said it had taken the opportunity to rethink its approach from previous proposals in response to feedback.
The proposed tower was called the Trellis because of the distinctive “cross-braced” pattern on the outside of the building.
The company said in a statement: “The new scheme remains the tallest in the city complex and, in collaboration with the Museum of London, the upper floors will be retained for education and public access.”
“The revised proposals will allow us to deliver a more sustainable building with enhanced urban greening.”
If revised plans are approved by the City of London in May, the skyscraper is expected to be completed by 2030.
