The Spring Festival Carnival, organized by the China International Youth Exchange Center, was held in Beijing on Friday to introduce Chinese culture and welcome the Year of the Dragon.
According to the center, the event was attended by about 120 people, including diplomatic missions from more than 30 countries and Chinese students.
At the carnival, 12 items of China’s intangible cultural heritage were showcased, including calligraphy, paper cutting, tea culture, and traditional costumes. Chinese and foreign youths discussed topics such as the meaning of the “Chinese Dragon” and traditional Spring Festival customs and culture.How to wear Hanfu (Traditional Chinese style clothing).
Vishnu Phukal Shrestha, Ambassador of Nepal to China, expressed his joy to participate in the Lunar New Year Carnival along with Nepali students. He emphasized the importance of the young generation in maintaining the long-standing friendly relations between Nepal and China, and expressed his hope for deepening youth exchanges between the two countries.
Katyusha, a Kazakh student at Beijing Film Academy, experienced Chinese culture for the first time at this event. Dressed in traditional Chinese costume and carrying a lantern emblazoned with the word “Fuku,” she said her experience was immersive for her.
Katyusha, a photography major, plans to create a series of works that showcase unique aspects of traditional Chinese culture.
Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year, has been officially listed as a floating holiday on the United Nations calendar of conferences and conferences from 2024.
