If you can travel with your laptop and mobile phone, you can work almost anywhere in the world with an internet connection. Never before has mobile freedom been more important.
A bit of a problem when working abroad is making sure you have a power source that works with the local power outlets and has enough output and power to charge your laptop, charge your phone and keep all your gadgets powered and ready to go.
The new Ceptics 65W Nanfuse World Travel Adapter uses the latest GaN technology, resulting in a smaller, cooler running power supply capable of handling voltages from 100 to 240V at 50 or 60Hz.
The power supply is about the size of a square pepper mill and can output a total of 65W of power, which is enough to power many popular laptops. Unusually, this sleek little power supply comes with a detachable 1.5m extension cable that can be fitted with any of six global power adapters.
There are power adapters for UK, EU, Shuk, US, US Grounded and Australian power outlets. Ceptics uses SWadAPT compatible adapters and also sells additional adapters for some of the world’s more exotic power outlets, used in countries such as Brazil, Italy and Denmark.
The adapter’s total power budget of 65W can be shared across the three USB ports. Quick Charge 3.0 and Power Delivery PD are supported with Smart Voltage technology. Two of the USB ports are Type-C and the third is Type-A, making it convenient for legacy devices.
The Ceptics 65W Nanfuse World Travel Adapter has three USB ports as well as a US and US grounded power outlet, so if you have a larger MacBook or other laptop that requires more than 65W of power, you can plug your laptop’s power supply in. This is a handy feature and one I’ve never seen before.
So far so good, but be aware that Nanfuse uses a special connector to connect the extension cable to the power brick. If you lose or forget this cable, you can’t just use a regular figure-of-eight or kettle power cord instead. Not a big deal, but worth keeping in mind.
Another thing to point out is that the Ceptics 65W Nanfuse World Travel Adapter is not a voltage adapter. It will accept any power source between 100-240V, but it cannot step the voltage down or up, so you need to make sure that the device you plug into the adapter is compatible with your local voltage.
Luckily, modern laptops and other appliances are compatible with multiple voltages, so if you’re thinking of plugging a curling iron or hair dryer into a power outlet, check carefully as you could literally get shocked.
verdict: The Ceptics 65W Nanfuse World Travel Adapter is a handy travel companion for all your charging and power needs wherever you are in the world. It would be nice to have a carrying pouch to store the adapter, power adapter, and cable all together, but the very reasonable price makes it a nice little bargain and well worth purchasing for your next trip abroad.
