The world’s largest vodka bottle, packed with a dizzying 259 litres of booze, will tower over holidaymakers at London airport this summer – and it could be yours for a staggering £150,000.
Made by O Vodka, the 6ft 8in tall bottle weighs 300kg and is being admired by sun-seekers in the international departures lounge at Stansted Airport.
The Guinness World Record was confirmed on Friday [May 24] This is the world’s largest vodka bottle, surpassing the previous bottle which reportedly held 200 litres.
The photo shows DJ and Au Vodka shareholder Charlie Sloth with a records adjudicator holding a certificate and a giant bottle behind them.
Guinness World Records declared it a “remarkable achievement” after examining the bottle to ensure it had “accurate scales” and used the same materials as a standard 70cl size bottle.
The gold-plated monument looks like a regular O Vodka product, but the glass bottle contains 350 times more alcohol than a regular 700ml bottle.
It was delivered to Stansted Airport on Friday. [May 24] It is due to be removed on June 24th when Charlie Sloth claims it can be purchased for the staggering price of £150,000.
Au Vodka claims that “a number of celebrities” have already expressed interest in purchasing the bottle, which could be drunk at 25ml a day for 28 years and still not be finished.
Au Vodka investigated the attempt on May 17th and sent the results to Guinness World Records shortly after.
Guinness World Records Adjudicator Richard Stenning said: “The engineering and effort that went into this Guinness World Records title is outstanding.”
“259 litres is a lot of vodka, but the bottles it comes in are meticulously crafted.
“To comply with our guidelines it uses the same ingredients and to the same scale as a standard 70cl size bottle. Congratulations to everyone involved in this fantastic achievement – please drink responsibly!”
The previous world record was reportedly set by Polish vodka brand Chopin to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of its namesake composer.
Tom Smith, O Vodka’s UK and Ireland sales director, said: “This installation is a milestone not only for O Vodka but for the spirits industry as a whole.
“Given the success of O Vodka in the UK and the significant growth in the travel retail market in particular, we wanted to push the boundaries and create an experience that would resonate with consumers not only in the UK but globally.”
Charlie Morgan, managing director of O Vodka, said: “Our aim was to bring something different to the drinks market, something that goes beyond traditional advertising.”
