England’s T20 World Cup preparations have once again been affected by the weather, with the third match of the Vitality International series against Pakistan being called off without a ball being bowled.
The rain-damaged collapse at Headingley in the series opener was followed by disastrous scenes in Cardiff.
England won by 23 runs at Edgbaston but their latest disappointment at Sophia Gardens came just a week before their opening World Cup match against Scotland in Barbados on June 4.
The Welsh capital had a sunny afternoon but rain began to fall an hour before the scheduled 6.30pm kick-off.
Attendance was expected to be 15,600 and a sizeable crowd braved the bad weather to turn out before the match was called off just after 8.10pm.
The referees went out onto the field for a brief discussion with the ground staff and the match was abandoned within five minutes.
The two teams meet in the final match of the series at Kia Oval on Thursday ahead of their World Cup trips.
Pakistan’s first match will be against USA in Texas on June 6.
