This week we learned that the supposedly impartial Labor leader Lindsay Hoyle changed parliamentary procedure to allow Labor questions instead of those from the SNP. That would clearly have sparked a revolt of up to 80 Labor MPs.
This day was supposed to be the day of the SNP debate. Instead, the Speaker, under alleged pressure from Sir Keir Starmer, allowed Labour’s questions. This led to a bench revolt.
It’s like school. Mr Lindsay apologized, claiming he was concerned for the safety of MPs in light of recent events such as the harassment of people like Tobias Ellwood.
