AVON, Ohio — Amy and Paul VanderEyck have opened a new high-tech fitness studio staffed by personal trainers powered by artificial intelligence and robotics.
A husband-and-wife duo from Columbia Station have opened their first Exercise Coach franchise on Center Road in Avon and are looking forward to welcoming customers.
When Paul retired from the IT industry, where he worked for 30 years, they decided to take the plunge and run their own business.
“I wanted to try something more meaningful,” said Paul, 53. “We were looking for a franchise with a good business model and a solid product or service.
“After considering many franchises, most of which were not in the fitness space, we landed on The Exercise Coach because of its business model focused on age-appropriate fitness.
“Additionally, our proprietary technology was a very strong driver of our decision. This technology sets us apart from other fitness businesses and allows us to make health accessible. ” he said.
“The business model was interesting. It’s an underserved demographic and demographic, and we’re part of that. The opportunity to have a real impact on people’s quality of life is a great opportunity. .”
Amy, 47, is equally excited about the opportunity. She has spent her long career in the marketing field focusing on small and medium-sized businesses. Although she will continue in her marketing role, she has her own history with health and fitness.
She said her business uses certified coaches who work with high-tech computerized machines instead of traditional equipment like dumbbells and treadmills. This creates a personalized program with optimized efficiency. That is, a week she only has to do her 20-minute workouts twice.
“The machine actually adjusts training to a person’s strengths and weaknesses in real time, thereby helping that person get the most out of their training and avoid injury,” she said. .
“Additionally, the machine automatically makes the exercise harder as the person gets stronger, so there is no plateau and the person is competing against themselves.
“We want to engage consumers who are reluctant to exercise,” says Amy. “People who are too busy to spend a lot of time at the gym, don’t like the gym atmosphere, or are afraid of getting injured.
“Rather than attracting the most athletic people with proprietary technology that competes with other gyms, we offer privacy, convenience, personalization, efficiency, and lifestyle to those less accustomed to fitness success.” We want to provide guidance to change the quality of
The couple opened in January and serve residents of Avon, Avon Lake, Westlake, Sheffield, Sheffield Lake and North Ridgeville.
Founded in 2000, The Exercise Coach began franchising in 2011 and currently has 200 studios nationwide. It is one of the fastest growing fitness and personal training franchises in the country.
