Activists from the National Reengagement March will travel to Westminster this Wednesday to argue that Britain should rejoin the European Union. This will coincide with “Brexit Day”, the anniversary of the UK officially leaving the European Union.
The group, along with members of SODEM, Grassroots for Europe, London 4 Europe and others, will spend a day of action and fun on the anniversary of the UK imposing economic sanctions on their country.
Event of the day
It promises to be an action-packed day with a European vigil, a “death by Brexit” demonstration, leaflet distribution and pro-EU light installations, and singing as darkness falls.
Organizer George Kiraidis said:
“Sometimes we act as if we all believe that the arcs of history are bending towards reconverging, but there is no reason for this to happen unless we make it happen. Yours. May you feel the hand of history on your shoulder and lead you to Parliament Square on January 31st.”
Louise Brown, an activist from Sunderland, one of the founders of North East for Europe and a member of SODEM, said:
“As a full member of SODEM, we look forward to working with the NRM, Grassroots and London 4 Europe on Wednesday 31st January, which marks the sad fourth anniversary of Brexit. It is also the day border checks come into effect and I will be there to highlight the disruption they are said to cause.”
National reparticipation march
The National Rejoin March is a grassroots organization dedicated to working towards the UK’s rejoining of the EU, with the slogan ‘Let’s walk together on the path to rejoining’. The group has already organized two successful large-scale marches in London, with a “rejoin day” planned for later in March. Co-founder Peter Corr said:
“In this election year, it’s more important than ever to get our message of reunification before politicians and the media, and that’s what we intend to do starting January 31st.” We want to get back on this agenda and keep it there until we get back to where we belong. ”
