Trina McGee, one of the stars of the 1990s sitcom “Boy Meets World,” revealed on Monday that she is pregnant at age 54.
The actress shared the happy news on Instagram, before announcing that she will be “stepping away from social media for a while.”
“I’m pregnant at the young age of 54,” she said in the short video, which plays along with the Supremes classic “Baby Love.” “Please pray for a safe delivery. Thank you.”
She added in the caption: “Thank you all in advance for your prayers and well wishes.”
Maggie, who recently received an apology from co-star Danielle Fishel for her “cold” attitude, is best known for her role as Angela Moore on Boy Meets World, which she joined in 1997 and stayed on until the seventh and final season in 2000.
Trina’s fans offered glowing congratulations in the comments on her post, with many noting her age.
“54?!?!?!?! Congrats on the new baby but how did you end up 54?” one fan joked, apparently referring to her ageless looks.
“Yeah but you’re still in your 30s in the Trina McGee era,” another fan wrote.
“Sarah didn’t give birth to Isaac until she was 89,” one commenter added.
Trina already has three children, two of which she had with ex-husband Randall Courtland Davis, with whom she was married from 1991 to 2001.
The actress shared pictures from her trip to Malacate Beach in the Central American country of Belize and appears to have shared the news of the baby’s arrival during her carefree vacation in Belize.
After announcing her pregnancy, some of Trina’s fans refocused their attention on a photo of her latest post, in which she can be seen wearing a blue tie-dye cropped halter top, a white skirt and a straw hat, while holding a coconut cake.
One fan, noticing that her belly was already showing in the photo, commented: “You’ve got a belly!”
“Ah, now I understand why she’s pregnant,” commented another user.
Trina rose to fame with her role on Boy Meets World, where her on-screen interracial romance with co-star Rider Strong (who played Shawn Hunter) was a rarity for a major network sitcom at the time.
