At what age did you start experimenting with makeup?
When I was in my late teens. My mom was resistant to makeup at first, but eventually gave in when I started college at her age of 16. The real makeup extravaganza started when I started going to college to get a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
What is your signature makeup routine?
My beauty routine is a fun melody of self-care. It starts with sunscreen sensation L’Oréal Sheer Day Touch Sunscreen. Next, mix your vitamin C serum with almond oil or facial oil to hydrate. The grand finale involves choosing a lipstick shade that matches my bold, perfectly formed eyebrows and applying a little mascara.
What does your daily life look like?
Most days, my skincare routine is just hyaluronic acid and vitamin C serum, and minimal or no makeup. I love saving my makeup for special occasions when it’s absolutely necessary and letting my skin breathe.
What sunscreen or serum do you use?
Vitamin C and cold-pressed almond oil are great for serums. Almond oil also acts as a great pre-makeup moisturizer. In the scorching heat of summer, salicylic acid serums and moisturizing facial cleansers, plus plenty of water intake and hyaluronic acid can be a game-changer.
Share your favorite perfume and lipstick choices.
In the fragrance department, I’m obsessed with Jo Malone, Tom Ford Oud Wood, Silver Birch, and Lavender. When it comes to lipsticks, Charlotte Tilbury Glowing Jen holds a special place in my heart.
Do you prefer lighter or darker foundation tones?
I choose foundation shades that coordinate with my skin tone, and I’m usually drawn to the light coverage options from NARS and Makeup Forever.
What is your post-shoot routine?
I use baby oil or cleansing lotion to remove my makeup. Followed by a refreshing face wash, choose either almond oil or a suitable day or night cream.
How do you take care of hair damage caused by styling?
Applying oil is hair’s best friend and combines it with a fish-rich diet for hair growth. Applying a drop of hair serum before blow drying is a must. Collagen supplements can work wonders for healthy hair, nails, and skin, but be sure to consult your doctor for the best advice.
How can I stay fit and healthy?
I keep up my fitness with a combination of early morning gym sessions, Zumba, cardio, HIT, and various exercises. And of course, healthy eating is the golden key.
Are there any cosmetics you can’t live without?
A dynamic duo of Charlotte Tilbury lipstick and Inglot lip gloss – a make-up essential.
Which brands do you often use when buying cosmetics?
My beauty bag is a blend of Nars and Makeup Forever for foundation, Kiko for mascara, Dior for blush, and L’Oreal for sunscreen.
What essentials are in your beauty bag?
Lipstick, blush, Benefit eyebrow pencil, Anastasia brow gel, brush, contour, gloss – this is a complete glam kit.
What is the scariest thing about makeup?
Acne and enlarged pores are the ultimate makeup nightmare.
Do you regularly get facials at a salon?
I’m obsessed with face waxing, but facials are a vintage affair that I haven’t embraced in many years.
Who is your favorite local stylist or hairdresser?
Hair by Saira and Bilal from The Chrysalis. For makeup and hair, she relies on Ikram and Gohar, and Rashid and Raheela at her salon do a great job.
Do you have a favorite place to get your hair and makeup done?
Located in Defense, Karachi, Chrysalis is your go-to place for make-up, hair, coloring and cuts, basically the ultimate beauty headquarters.
What is your beauty regimen?
Hydrate, eat fruit, cleanse, facial oil, moisturize – this is a simple and effective mantra for an everlasting glow.
Do you use anti-aging products?
Why not try anti-aging with Kiehl’s products? Age is just a number.
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty to me means looking great even without makeup. As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
